Arnica montana - Boericke & Tafel, Nature's Way

Characteristics:
Pain, stiffness or swelling may be associated with acute injuries or trauma.

From Arnica mantana, leopard's bane or Fallkraut. The homeopathic remedy is made from the whole fresh plant or just the root, or from the dried flowers, and is traditionally used to minimize the immediate effects of shock, falls, bruising, bleeding, and injuries caused by blunt objects. It also helps traumatized tissues to heal.

Constitutional indications:
Those who derive most benefit from Arnica tend to be rather morose and morbidly imaginative. No matter how ill they feel they are likely to deny that anything is wrong with them and refuse to see a doctor.

Mental symptoms alleviated:
Wanting to be left alone; hypochondriac tendencies; hopelessness; indifference; restlessness; tossing and turning in bed at night and blaming it on hardness of bed; nightmares about robbers, muddy waters, horrible incidents in the past etc., from which one wakes mortally afraid and clutching heart; impatience; absentmindedness, inability to concentrate, because one is easily distracted and startled; fear of sudden death.

Physical symptoms alleviated:
Head feels hot, body cold; concussion; black eyes; eyestrain; cold nose; bad breath; sore gums after dentistry; fever which causes stupor, prostration, even unconsciousness; eczema; boils; broken capillaries internally and on surface of skin, especially after childbirth or injury, sore muscles due to unaccustomed exercise; sprained joints; tennis elbow; in children, whooping cough in which coughing is preceded by crying; aversion to milk and meat; craving for pickles and vinegary foods; foul-smelling stools; faecal incontinence during nightmares.

The above symptoms improve as one starts to move around, then get worse as movement continues. Lying down, with the head lower than the feet, can bring relief. Heat, rest and light pressure generally aggravate matters.

Complementary remedies:
Aconite, Ipecac.

Antidoting remedy:
Camphora.

Most of the plant is crushed to a pulp and soaked in alcohol before undergoing the dilution process. This process makes the substance safe and non-toxic.

Cautions:
While homeopathic medicines are safe & remarkably free of side effects, your condition might be serious. Do not take this product for pain for more than 10 days unless directed by a doctor. If pain or other symptoms persist or get worse, or if new symptoms occur, consult a doctor, because these could be signs of a serious condition.
